Hostio is the brand used for this website by Jay Salton, an Australian sole trader (ABN 42 299 893 258) based in Queensland, Australia. This policy explains how information is handled when you visit gethostio.com, request a website quote, leave a blog comment, or contact us. Information we collect
When you ask for a quote, the form collects your name, email address, business name, the service you select, your project description, and any current website, timeframe, or approximate budget you choose to provide. If you email us, we receive the information in your message and its usual email headers. We do not ask for payment card details through the website quote form.
Our website and hosting services may also process technical data needed to deliver and protect the site, such as an IP address, browser and device details, pages requested, timestamps, and security logs. If blog comments are enabled and you leave one, WordPress collects the comment and the information you enter in the comment form, together with your IP address and browser user-agent string for moderation and spam prevention. Approved comments and the name you submit may be visible to other visitors.
How we use the information
We use your information to respond to questions, assess and discuss a possible website project, prepare a quote, provide services under any later agreement, maintain business records, and secure or troubleshoot the website. A quote request is a request for a response about your project; it is not a subscription to marketing emails. We may send service-related messages if you become a client. Any optional marketing subscription will be presented separately with an unsubscribe method.
Quote form storage and email
The quote form creates a private Hostio Enquiry record in the WordPress administration area and emails the details to sales@gethostio.com.au. General email enquiries go to hello@gethostio.com.au. Authorized people who manage enquiries or the website can access the relevant records. A private WordPress record is not a public web page. Email delivery and backups may create additional copies held by our service providers.
Service providers and disclosure
We use providers for website hosting, email delivery and storage, and website administration. Those providers may process information on our behalf to operate the website and handle enquiries. We may also share relevant information with contractors working on a project you agree to, or disclose information where required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, security, or the website. We do not publish your quote submission or use it as a testimonial without permission.
International handling
Hostio operates from Australia and welcomes enquiries from other countries. If you submit information from outside Australia, it may be accessed in Australia. Hosting, email, and other service providers may also process information in the countries where they operate. Protections and legal rights can differ by location. You can ask us about the providers handling a particular enquiry using the privacy contact address above.
Cookies, comments, and other sites
WordPress may set cookies for administrators and, if you choose the comment-cookie option, to remember your details for future comments. Essential technical cookies may also be used for security or site operation. The current site is not using a public customer account or checkout on gethostio.com. You can manage cookies in your browser, although disabling some may affect website functions.
If avatars are displayed beside comments, WordPress may send a hashed version of a commenter’s email address to Gravatar to check for an avatar; Gravatar has its own privacy policy. Articles may link to other websites, which have their own privacy practices. If we later add analytics, advertising pixels, embedded media, or other tools that materially change data collection, we will update this policy and provide any notice or choice required by applicable law.
How long we keep information
We retain enquiries, emails, and related records while needed to respond, assess a project, provide any agreed service, maintain appropriate business records, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations. The period varies with the enquiry and any legal recordkeeping needs; you may ask us to delete information that is no longer required. Copies in routine backups or email archives may remain for a limited period under those systems’ retention cycles. Comments may remain visible with the article unless removed or a valid deletion request is processed.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. Access to the private WordPress enquiry area is restricted to authorized site users. No method of online transmission or storage is completely secure.
Your choices and privacy requests
Email hello@gethostio.com.au to ask what personal information we hold about you, request access or correction, ask for deletion, or raise a privacy complaint. We may ask for information needed to verify that the request relates to you, and may retain records where law or a legitimate need permits or requires it. Depending on where you live and which privacy law applies, you may have additional rights to restrict certain uses, opt out, or appeal a decision. We will explain the applicable process when we respond and handle requests within the time required by applicable law.
Children
This website is intended for business enquiries and is not directed to children. Please do not submit a child’s personal information through our forms.
